אנמנזה, בדיקה גופנית, בדיקות ראשוניות:

33year old male patient who presented over the course of one year (2023-2024) with recurrent episodes of high fever (38-39 ⁰C), malaise, myalgia, pharyngitis, and adenitis. On physical examination at each time a notable tonsillar enlargement and erythema, as well as exudate were observed.

Strep. tonselitis
Peritonsilar Abcess
CMV/EBV
HIV

ממצאי בירור נוסף, בדיקות ויעוצים:

CBC, CRP, and basic chemistry all within normal range, repeated throat culture with no evidence of strep infection
ENT consult

אבחנה סופית:

adult onset PFAPA

1. increase awareness for the condition in adults (commonly considered pediatric disease)
2. no standard diagnosing criteria (existing ones only apply to children)
3. prevention of unnecessary antibiotic use
